Internal Family System Session's with Kellee
A compassionate way of understanding the parts, aspects and facets of you that have learned to protect, cope and survive.
Kellee hold certification in IFS (Official Level 1 Trained in Australia).
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a gentle, experiential approach to psychotherapy that understands the mind as naturally made up of different parts.
You may recognise some of these parts as the overthinker, the perfectionist, the people-pleaser, the inner critic, the part that stays busy, the part that shuts down, or the part that becomes anxious, angry or overwhelmed.
Rather than viewing these responses as something that needs to be fixed or removed, IFS approaches them with curiosity. Often, the parts of us that create difficulty today originally developed to protect us from pain, rejection, fear, trauma or experiences we did not yet have the capacity to process.
Beneath these protective responses, IFS recognises an inner Self — the calm, compassionate, curious and connected presence within you that can begin to understand and lead your internal system.
Therapy becomes less about fighting against yourself and more about developing a different relationship with yourself.
What might IFS help with?
IFS can be particularly supportive when working with:
-
Anxiety and overthinking
-
Trauma and attachment wounds
-
Inner criticism and perfectionism
-
People-pleasing and difficulty with boundaries
-
Shame and low self-worth
-
Emotional overwhelm or shutdown
-
Relationship patterns
-
Grief and loss
-
Hormonal and life transitions
-
Feeling disconnected from yourself
-
Repeating patterns that you understand intellectually but still find difficult to change
Why work with me?
I am an IFS Certified Practitioner, and IFS is at the heart of the way I work therapeutically.
My approach brings together spirituality honouring mind, body, spirit + soul with IFS from an attachment-informed, trauma-informed, somatic, relational and nervous-system-aware psychotherapy. I am particularly interested in helping clients understand not simply what they are experiencing, but what may be happening underneath it — and why certain parts of them have needed to respond in the ways they do.
Our work is collaborative and paced around you. There is no expectation that you disclose everything immediately, push through difficult emotions or force vulnerable parts of yourself to change.
Instead, we create enough safety and spaciousness to become curious.
To listen.
To understand.
And, over time, to help the parts of you carrying old roles, fears and burdens discover that they no longer have to work quite so hard.
The intention is not to become someone different.
It is to come into a deeper relationship with who you already are.
This is Aletheia of Soul
Coming home to Self
